Re: Allergy Medicine Combining?
Tue, June 30, 2009 - 9:39 PMNah man most allergy meds are SSRI's which block the absorbtion of seretonin in your brain, while E releases large amounts, it could kill you. Thats what I read on Erowid at least. -

Wed, July 1, 2009 - 7:29 AMDave, can you point to where it says that? Most allergy meds are antihistamines. Some are ephedrine analogs. Some are other forms of decongestants entirely. I've never heard of any of these being SSRIs. -

Wed, July 1, 2009 - 12:36 PMWell the active ingredient in Benedryl is Diphenhydramine which is a SSRI. Here is a link for you en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphenhydramine
its under Pharmacological action. -

Re: Allergy Medicine Combining?
Thu, July 2, 2009 - 9:41 AMDiphenhydramine is a "first generation antihistamine," and, yes, is an SSRI, among other things. Many other antihistamines, such as loratadine (Claritin), are not. Again, we need to be a little more specific about what allergy meds the original poster is talking about. -

Thu, July 2, 2009 - 10:42 AMYeah he didn't really explain which one but combining anything with E isn't very same in the first place. -

Re: Allergy Medicine Combining?
Wed, July 8, 2009 - 11:26 AMSo, I was having some allergy-type symptoms right before a weekend event. Didn't want to do anything stupid, so I asked about drug combining. Then the symptoms decreased, so it became a moot point. When I saw that people on Tribe were taking the time to help me out, I thought about deleting the thread -- Don't want to cause unneeded effort. Then I thought, "This is some good info that someone might be able to benefit from," and left the thread.
Hence the lack of detail regarding type of allergy med.
