British Drug law and policy organisation ‘Release’ has recently launched a new campaign that kicks off with an attention-grabbing bus poster. Busses will be driving around London with a banner on it that says: Nice people take drugs.
Release hopes their campaign will start a debate about the kind of drug policy the country wants to see. It has become clear that the ‘war on drugs’ has failed and many believe a different – safer – policy is needed. Harm reduction and decriminalisation have proven to be much more effective than simply banning substances and arresting people who use them. Release’s Sebastian Saville argues that:
“the constant association by politicians and the media of drugs with words like evil and shame simply does not reflect most people’s experience of drugs. The public is tired of the artificial representation of drugs in society, which is not truthful about the fact that all sorts of people use drugs. If we are to have a fair and effective drug policy, it must be premised on this reality first and foremost.”

"you're all evil nutjobs on drugs"... :) -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 6:58 AMOrpheus..
Your "Everything is evil and everybody hates me" speech is getting boring...
Do something about it or shut it please...
Your ways are tiresome and add nothing.
Don't take that wrong... -

Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:13 AMI understand where you are coming from Orpheus...
And in a way I sympathize...
Sometimes the world is a dark place...
But the beauty lies in the little things..
In good wine.. in art.. in people...
It takes work to make something beautiful of it..
ANd that is the truth.. you should make your life beautiful...
Keep in control.
To live your life, and not 'be' lived...
Even from the darkest cracks of hell you can start...
It takes work, patience and commitment.. -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:20 AMno for orpheus probably going to need some serious medications - careful, thoughtful regime of antidepressants combined with supportive talk therapy for a while - this kind of thing is mainly biochemical - so you have to fight fire with fire, as the shaman would say, poison with poison!

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:52 AManyway...
"nice people take drugs"
well that kinda does underline a kinda truth...
I mean who could not like pretty educated middle/upper class youth getting off on some top of the range recreation and some rich old opium eating aesthete mystics...?
but my luvverly little slogan...
"evil nutjobs on drugs"
well this might open the field for some critical thinking... hahaha
so whereas we might like the opportunity for some high class masseuses as personal trainers expertly administering stress relieving doses of life enhancing chakral thirdeye opening medication - do we really want the local crackhead dealers siring a zillion criminally insane kiddies on 12 year old addict girls etc...?
if you've got an the elephant in the room maybe feeding it a ton of beer and vindaloo and amphetamines isn't necessarily the nicest way forward...
or maybe it is...
maybe it all depends on where you're sitting I guess... hahaha

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:41 AMIf you got some fire left in you, fuel it with beauty..
For a cynic like Orpheus it is hard..
He sees structures of the world but he denies himself a beautiful role in it...
It probably is a lack of confidence.. an angst for the unknown...
A strange form of self-hatred which fuses a lust for destruction...
He doesn't allow himself to grow..
What he's got works.. allthough it doesn't work as good as it could be...
Still he finds righteousness in his own words. because he has not experienced the beauty that life can give and be..
I don't know...
Everybody struggles.. Everybody feels pain..
In the end you gotta grab yourself by the neck and get out there..
Face the world... you can do it....
Im no psychologist ... But I found that if you start caring..the world will care back...
If you just don't care anymore.. the world is a dark lonely place.. -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:54 AMsee I think it's more biological than that - probably "cynics" are born not made - think of it, we evolved in tribes - small groups of 25-50 individuals - and what if all the individuals in the tribe wear unbearable optimists? Might lead the tribe, and all the individuals in the tribe and all their potential for procreation right to their doom. I think our social stucture includes biological cynics breed right into our social structure. This creates an important group balance - key is that it is biological - not so nuts bees do it, why not us? Some are born conservatives, some born liberals, some born optimistic and some pessimistic.
Remember nature doesn't much care about any consequences to the individual. -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 8:15 AMactually there is evidence for this now - an inclination to either support the status quo or challenge the status quo, at its heart - doesn't so much matter what the status quo is, those born to support it will do whether they are born in America, China or Communist Soviet Russia
this inclination could easily be extrapolated into what goes in America as Democratic and Republican - everyone thinking they are "human" and somehow not bound by the same laws of nature as any other animal on the planet, that they "believe" in this or that while in reality we are merely surfing the waves of own biochemistry -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Wed, June 10, 2009 - 6:30 AMTV is part of our collective dialogue, our shared experience. Some of it is quite worthwhile. The FOX show Fringe makes frequent mention and use of psychedelics, and Weeds on SHOWTIME is thriving on a tale of cannabis distribution. True Blood on HBO uses the metaphor of vampire blood - "V" - to explore the implications of ecstatic, entheogenic, and also somewhat dangerous and illegal substances. Nice people on drugs watch TV. :D -
-
Re: Nice people take drugs
Wed, June 10, 2009 - 7:01 AMimagination is perhaps the most wonderful lesson of this world - what a beautiful lesson imagination is for an eternal being! I like Fringe, too.
it is not imaginative TV productions that are the problem - the problem is the way TV is used as a drug to narcotize the populace so that we do not grasp the fact that a big dick is right up our ass! And the way TV promotes consumerism as a modern day religion that offers we masses nothing but useless lies and manipulations

Re: Nice people paint it black...
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 9:34 AMwell johnny nice painter is a bit of a classic and there's more than a grain of "truth" in that sketch... hahaha
imho he merits his own pavilion at the venice biennale...
I went to a kind of village open art festival at the weekend and the work was kinda in a range from the grunge and graffiti of local angry druggy postpunk pseudo urban kiddies to rich retired expat watercolours etc...
kinda made me feel like a zillion times blacker than sweet mr. nice painter... hahaha
And it's in Kilkenny it is supposed
Where the marble stones are as black as ink,
With gold and silver I will support you,
And I will sing no more 'till I get a drink;
I am always drunk and seldom sober,
Constantly roving from town to town;
Now when I'm dead and my days are over,
Come, Molly, a stór, and lay me down.

Re: Nice people take drugs
Tue, June 9, 2009 - 7:07 AMorpheus is soaking up the lesson of this world, this reality
here we perfect beings knowing no such things as separation, beginning or end, suffering, hate - indeed, even evil! This world where the wolf eats the caribou alive teaches we beings wholly of love and bliss all the harsh lessons as well as the sweet potentials of this physicality
but here and now is real enough and creating is always better than destroying, loving better than hating, accepting better than judging - these are the lessons also of this world - the lessons an eternal being perhaps needs to learn since an eternal is nothing other than a God - ha ha ha
orpheus the God think of that?

Re: Nice people take drugs
Thu, June 11, 2009 - 3:33 AMNice video Geert, but maybe a little dated. Its true that as long as commercials pay the bills, network TV is heavily controlled by what attracts consumers and sells products. But cable changes things, especially the premium channels, and PBS of course. A lot of the comedy is downright subversive - Jon Stewart, Stepehn Colbert, Bill Mahr, etc. There's a whole channel of Left-leaning news coverage (MSNBC). And TV played a vital role in putting a black man in the White House. Ultimately, I think, the Revolution *will* be televised, whether people are getting the feed on TV's, computers, cell phones, whatever. Its a whole different animal these days. Much more diversity and freedom of expression.
Entheogens are making inroads, too. There are more and more positive references - in dramas (I mentioned Fringe and True Blood), comedy monologues, and animated series like "The Simpsons". Penetrating popular culture this way can only be good for our cause. I live in California, and the situation with medical marijuana is truly heartening. The medicine IS available to people, legally and fairly easily. So the precedent is there, to reverse the prohibition of healing plants, fungi, and derivatives thereof. All we need is public opinion to shift our way, and at this point I see TV as helping this along.
Imagine a world where the human race, by and large, had access to the psychedelics. I believe that would be a much better place, don't you? Maybe TV can help to make it happen. -

Re: Nice people take drugs
Fri, June 12, 2009 - 7:20 AMWater spiked with montmorillionite clay contains the monos. These clays are created from volcanic matter. The monoatomics are not limited to gold either. Any of the platinum group elements can exhibit the deformed orbital. What we are also coming to suspect is that any element can be monoatomic. That would include spin paired hydrogen and probably oxygen as well. Active trap water can be made from distilled water as I showed in some experiments few years ago. The subject is rather complex and also involves torsion fields and scalar waves. A strong magnet will alter the torsion field of any matter, but most noticeably water. -
