That was entirely unnecessary. All you had to do was boil it in water, or even just take a capsule of the powder and drink it will some hot tea. When you use isopropyl alcohol you are taking a gamble. If it boils off, great. If you leave any behind you can seriously hurt yourself. Also, ephedra is strong stuff. A little goes a long way. And overdose can easily lead to vascular crisis and death.

The powder should be used for capsules and you will get an effect just from chewing on the stem without the application of heat or strong solvents. If you want to make a tea, use maybe a teaspoon or tablespoon of the dried sticks, depending on potency, and add hot water for some tea. American Ephedra or Mormon tea is a lot weaker, and ephedra grown in the desert is stronger than ephedra grown in wetter environments. The dry thick woody epehdra is more potent than the stringy green moist stuff.


It just occurred to me that there could be another reason for wanting a more pure extract.....do your homework before attempting anything too crazy
