Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:38 AMAccording to Hoffmann's book "LSD My Problem Child," His first on purpose experiment was indeed at 4:20pm. However, that seems to be synchronicity only and has nothing to do with the usage of the term to refer to cannabis. The wikipedia entry seems pretty accurate, from my knowledge. Hoffmann's work was with LSD, not cannabis, which is what the common 420 refers to. Now, if Uncle Albert had lit up a doobie at that time... -

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 8:51 AMadditionally, the group of friends who shared the herb by the Louis Pasteur statue did so to commemorate the anniversary of Pasteur's completion of his pasteurization experiments on April 20 (4-20!) of i forget what year.
