Re: Old shrooms
06/21I had some old shrooms that didn't have any effect but I made them into tea rather than just eating them and the water may have been too hot or something... -

Re: Old shrooms
06/21if they aren't rotten with new types of fungus growing on them (because they were not dried properly) and are the right kind of shrooms, then they shouldn't make you sick.
I've been told that ziplocked shrooms will gradually become inactive at the rate of 40-60% per year. Cant really verify that.
So if I were you I would eat as much of them as possible in order to trip.
If you are into long term storage, its best to invest on a vacuum container of some sort. This way you could preserve their potency for years (hearsay again).
check the shroomery for more info. -

Re: Old shrooms
06/21If they were dried properly, they have no foul smell, no mold and they were kept in a dark, dry place, you may have a decent trip.
The only thing I noticed on old shrooms is the intensity of sideeffects (drop in body temperature, mild tremor), but psilocybin kicks in like ever before. -

Re: Old shrooms
06/21So the side effects were greater in the older shrooms? -

Re: Old shrooms
06/21shrooms are probably fine, maybe lost a little potency but you have to be super certain they are not contaminated most likely with bacteria - that is the issue i think -

Re: Old shrooms
06/23The Aztecs preserved and consumed them in honey. Seems it would protect from a lot of oxidation.

Re: Old shrooms
06/21Well... Like the others said... if they are not moldy or gross you should not get sick... Depending on the Type of Shroom they might be really good or very weak... Cubensis are one of the Least Stable Psilocybe Mushrooms... Not only does the potency vary greatly with fresh, dried specimens, .6-1.2 %, but they rapidly lose potency from the Oxidization of Psilocybine into Psilocine... That is what actually causes the Blue Reaction, BTW... On Contrast... P. Semilanceata are about 1-1.4%... Far more stable... and do not blue (very little if at all)... They contain... .98% Psilocine compared to the .63% Psilocine content of Cubensis.... (AVG).... So.... If they are Cubensis... They are mostly like 1/4-1/2 of the potency of the original shrooms.... with a 1/2 life of 1 year for the Psilocybine content... and 4 years for the Psilocine... If they are Liberty Caps... P. Semilanceata... they will still be 80-90% potency....
Hope that Helps...
Peace. -

Re: Old shrooms
06/21Well, I like Psilocine in its own right.
I dont actually have any shrooms, but was merely asking a hypothetical question about shelf life. You never know when information may come in handy.
