You could if you wanted to with the Bufo Alvarius aka Colorado River toad but it would make you very sick. So people smoke the toad venom at a high tempature so that the Bufotein(sp?) is burned off and all that remains is the 5-meo-Dmt.

Yeah, people have been consuming toad venom for ages. Hippies in Australia used to boil cain (B. Marinus) toads and drink the water. As far as bufotenin, why would you want to "burn it off?" It's a psychedelic in its own right. God... Anyway, yeah you can but licking them won't work. Some tribes way out in the middle of the jungles actually use poison dart frogs as a ritual intoxicant. They take a stick and place it in the fire then burn themselves on a spot somewhere. They then take a stick and rub the frog then rub the wound and spend a couple days wasted in the woods. I haven't done a lot of research on poison dart frog venom but the different colored frogs produce toxins that seem to effect different parts of the brain. I remember reading somewhere the one species had a venom that acted similar to an opoid but hundreds of times more powerful than morphine.

If i remember well the fastest and easy method is to press the forehead of the toad on the gland and press the venom out.... every toat can be pressed every 2-3 days. then simmer it for few minuts to evaporate the liquid out and collect a white-yellow thin powder layer.
smoke it mix with tabacco or fruit pulp. the issue here is the dose.... so start easy i guess.....

the bufo toads are actually quite poisonous. Touching one in a way that makes it release it's venom through the skin can kill a child and seriously put an adult through a toxic experience.

As it has been noted here, the way to use the toad venom properly is to "milk it" by stimulating the toad to release it's venom by rubbing it, and collecting the venom and drying it and smoking it. Don't eat it!!!!

yea, it's made it's run across lot's of cartoons, even though it's just a myth. Thus far, that I know of, there has been toad licking on Beavis & Butthead (I believe they were the first), The Simpsons and The Family Guy, at minimum. And that's how drug myths become even further engrained in the cultural mind, even though they are admittedly hilarious depictions of drug myths.

Oh it's not a myth, just very stupid. Some people have tried it, although it is a horrible, horrible idea.

Most wild phalaris (reed canary) grass is not active. You either have to do chromatography on the grass you find to determine if it is active (or try it - tho some strains also have less desirable alkaloids, too) - or get some roots from some that you already know is active, from a friend or botanical supply house, and grow that. There are some known strains that are very good, like Turkey Red or Big Medicine.

I watched a movie about this in Enviro Sci in high school. The toads come from Hawaii. The getting hi part is from australia. They brought the toad in to kill some bug...yada yada

So i guess they boil the toads and what comes to the surface is some substance they dry out on wax paper. Then smoke it. I guess its like crack. Sweet! i cannot wait to try it...Not really.

I licked a toad. It didn't get me high. Now we're divorced. ;-)

But seriously, um, why? I heard about this years ago and I just have to wonder what kind of fantastic reviews I'd have to hear to want to lick a toad.

I heard that birds, I think they were cranes, eat those toads on purpose to trip.

there are many plants which contain the same common hallucinagin, minus the bufo....whatever its called i don't remember. Someone mentioned it above. A quick erowid or lyceaum search will inform you.

It's bufotenine, and yes it is available in many plants in addition to certain species of the Bufo toad. And that's just what we know of so far. There could be any number of things that contain it, that we're not yet aware of.
