Not really a drug I would use for mind expansion, but I am using it because I am in a lot of pain. I have an inflammatory intestinal condition Crohns/UC that I have mostly kept in check with holistic and Chinese medicine, but lately it has gotten out of control and resulted in auto-immune pancreatitis. The pain comes in bursts and is terrible.
For some reason hydrocodone gave me bad anxiety. Oxy didnt....however, I have been finding that its loosing effectiveness for pain relief pretty quickly. Last week I would get a real intense buzz with maybe a little dizziness from 10mg oral and now I still feel pain on 15mg over a course of 4 hours. Also, they seem to be clearing my system faster, like at about 3 hours, not just giving me less of an effect.
I dont want to get addicted. I am not trying to get high off them but I will need some pain relief for the next 2 weeks or until I get the inflammation under control....Any tips for potentiating the medicine I have SAFELY? I am not looking to get a strong rush, just to increase the analgesic effects so I can sleep through the night without getting woken up with pain.

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 5:59 AMyou have to read this book or at least find it in borders and look at the section on crohns disease and treatment with intestinal worms
they genetically engineered intestinal worms to not breed so they died about about six to eight weeks and patients drank them in larva form which are microscopic and just having them in the intestines for that length of time virtually cured most of the crohns patients.
they thought they would have trouble getting volunteers but the patients were standing in line all with really bad crohns facing surgical removal of their intestines
really great read also written by female evolutionary biologist -

Thu, October 8, 2009 - 8:49 AMHave you worked with hypnosis at all (or similar mental focusing techniques)?

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 12:08 PMAs a fellow crohn's sufferer, I might recommend the following:
DHEA, 200mg a day. At least one clinical trial has shown this to put crohn's into remission. I found good results with as little as 100mg.
Saccharomyces Boulardii - this is a probiotic that has been demonstrated to help with crohn's. You can go the expensive route and buy the Jarrow's or other health food store brand, or get just as good with "Digestive Advantage Crohn's and Colitis Formula" (sometimes packages as "Colon Care"), which you can buy in most chain drug stores. I will testify to its positive effect, tho you might have to start with double the dose if you are having a flare up.
Aloe juice, 1 glass after meals. Soothes the innards.
Hypnosis, as Dan mentioned, can be very helpful. Michael Ellner in New York City specializes in treating IBS and UC with hypnosis.
And, since this is a psychonaut's tribe, I will recommend psychedelic therapy. When I was a teenager, crohn's was a real problem for me. My doc was prescribing paregoric and it only partly helped (a stronger opiate might have done better). I was having a particularly acute attack on the evening my friends and I had scheduled for our first LSD trip, which I didn't want to miss. At first the acid increased the intestinal pain and gas... and then it faded out and I forget about it. AND THE DISEASE WENT INTO REMISSION FOR 20 OVER YEARS. It didn't resurface until I had to take a massive course of antibiotics for Lyme disease and trashed my intestines.

Thu, October 8, 2009 - 12:31 PMOther good stuff: turmeric, boswellia, garlic. -

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 1:19 PMI do use Turmeric Boswellia and Garlic. I am also very interested in these worms.
I also have Multiple Sclerosis....I am in remission and dont have any obvious outward symptoms of it at this time, but I have to be wary of anything that could stimulate my immune system. Cats claw might be contraindicated but I am not sure.
Is there anything that can safely potentate my pain medication? Vitamin C? Grapefruit juice? Amino acids? Ect?

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 2:54 PMfor the MS i also take a lot of omego oils and turmeric and a little selenium (only because the mushrooms told me to) and of course lots of marijuana and cymbalta at the half dose seems to help a whole lot - just found that out when i ran out of cymbalta and that's all i take other than vit and min suppliments
i know there's a lot more but that's what i settled on also because i can afford it - these suppliments are not cheap and my disposable income is weak with on SS monies - none of these except maybe selenium are in any way dangerous which I like and like you i'm a little concerned about stimulating the immune system so i only take selenium gtf about every third to forth day.
you may want to just go outside and eat a teaspoon of dirt, man, LOL - but these worms could potentially help even with MS since it is an autoimmune disease and clearly the worms are retraining/redirecting the immune system somehow. Can't get a patent on worms and charge a fortune for them doesn't matter that they work.

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 10:23 PMCan you excercise? It will help wear you out and you can sleep better. Get a massage if you can. It helps. There are other opiates like Norco or other things but they all seem kind of the same to me. Get some aloe juice and cranberry juice. Take a one ounce shot of each every hour for two days. Take Milk Thistle too yo. Twice a day. -

Re: Oxycodone
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 11:29 PMMy MS is in remission. It doesnt really affect me in any noticeable way. I am lucky. I work out and mountain bike ride and practice martial arts.
Unfortunately the Crohns is another story entirely, for the time being.
I have some Norco, but I am sensitive to tylenol. I like oxycodone because its just the opiate without the tylenol. -
-
Re: Oxycodone
Fri, October 9, 2009 - 7:24 AMthe main thing is if you must take this opiate is to make DAMN sure they don't have the tylenol in them, that combination really hammers you're liver and kidny but stupid doctors just feel compelled to give something with tylenol in it. Plus, you can only take 1000 mil of tylenol period - serious links to especially kidney disease with that stuff. I swear I think the opiate is better for sure and probably safer plus you can up the dose as your tolerence builds with destroying your organs
my friend in VA had crohns bad and all they wanted to do with cut everything out - i'd eat the worms first and at least try it before I let them go crazy like that on me?
-
Re: Oxycodone
Fri, October 9, 2009 - 9:59 AMSeriously, dude... DHEA is about $5 a bottle in the supermarket and could put your crohn's into remission in just a few days. Beats worms or narcotics.
www.google.com/search
The saccharomyces stuff is closer to $20, but again... worms?

Fri, October 9, 2009 - 7:40 PMDHEA made me really agressive. I felt like I was on Prednisone. Maybe I should try it again. -

Re: Oxycodone
Sat, October 10, 2009 - 12:45 PMI took DHEA once and I had the worst panic attack of my life. I am also cortisol deficient so that might have something to do with it.
